SAMIC engages industry at NAMPO 2026

SAMIC proudly participated at NAMPO Bothaville from 12 to 15 May 2026, showcasing its services to farmers, agricultural organisations, and the public. The exhibition provided an excellent platform to engage directly with stakeholders across the red meat value chain.

Throughout the event, SAMIC regional auditors interacted with visitors, explaining the importance of carcass classification and how it impacts market access and pricing. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with strong interest shown in SAMIC’s work and services.

To encourage engagement, SAMIC hosted a competition open to all attendees. The initiative received great participation, and two winners were independently selected, each receiving a hamper delivered after the event.

Reflecting on the experience, Tom Westphal, SAMIC executive director, said: “We really enjoyed our time at NAMPO and we loved the interaction with farmers, suppliers and industry bodies in the meat industry. It was really a privilege to be part of this, and we are encouraged by the interest shown in the work that we do.”

He added: “We also take away a lot of information and learnings from the industry on how we can improve even more. Let’s keep talking to each other and together we will make a difference!”

SAMIC’s presence at NAMPO forms part of its broader national outreach. In 2026, the organisation also participated in exhibitions across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Free State, with plans to expand to additional regions next year. Following the success of NAMPO 2026, SAMIC looks forward to returning in 2027 and continuing to strengthen relationships within the industry through knowledge sharing, collaboration and farmer support.
